What is the Thai Calendar?
Thailand uses the Buddhist Era (B.E.) as its official year, counted from the year of the Buddha's Parinirvana. The formula is: B.E. = A.D. + 543. For example, A.D. 2026 = B.E. 2569.
Key Differences
- A.D. (Anno Domini) — Gregorian calendar used worldwide, counting from the birth of Jesus Christ
- B.E. (Buddhist Era) — Used in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar
Conversion: B.E. → A.D. = B.E. − 543 | A.D. → B.E. = A.D. + 543
